A terminal client for Nostr — post notes, browse the feed, and send sats without leaving your command line.

What is Nostr?

Nostr is a simple, open protocol for decentralized social networking. Your identity is a cryptographic key pair:

  • Private key (nsec) — keeps your account secure, never shared
  • Public key (npub) — your identity others see, starts with npub1

Unlike traditional social media, there’s no company owning your data. Your posts live on relay servers you choose.

What Hoot Does

  • Create profiles — generate keys or import existing ones
  • Post notes — publish to multiple relays at once
  • Browse feed — see what’s happening on the network
  • Direct messages — encrypted private conversations
  • Send sats — tip creators via Lightning Network
